This Wonder Boy bootleg came with a cabinet I bought a while ago and was fully working when I got it.

One day while playing, the game backgrounds started to flicker on and off and eventually disappeared altogether. I shelved it for a while, but got stuck into it now I have some time over Christmas.

The three ROMs with the orange labels contain the background tiles, and they read ok, so the fault was going to be a bad TTL or RAM. All the RAM seemed OK, but found a 74LS157 with an output stuck low on a daughter board just left of those ROMs.

Replacing the 157 brought all the backgrounds back.
